Choosing a Kitchen Wallpaper for the Season

Is it time for new kitchen wallpaper? There are lots of ways to know whether or not it's time for a change. Take a long look at your kitchen walls and, if applicable, your old wall coverings. Examine the seams. Are they peeling away from the wall? Is your old wallpaper bubbling or buckling? Is it faded or full of grease or food stains that won't come out no matter how hard you scrub? Before you begin the task of selecting new wall coverings for your kitchen, it's important to discern whether or not your previous wall coverings were getting the job done. You now have an opportunity to transform your kitchen into something totally new that will look great for years to come.

Your kitchen is one of the busiest rooms in the house. From hurried breakfasts to leisurely late-night snacks, the kitchen has a lot to stand up to. Depending on the time of year and what’s cooking, the temperature and humidity in your kitchen varies dramatically. High temperatures followed by cooler ones, and varying degrees of humidity, should be kept in mind when considering what materials your new kitchen wallpaper should be made of. Consider too that splashing water, cleaning chemicals, grease, and food stains, are all likely to find their way to your walls. This means you'll want something stain resistant that will stand up to repeated cleanings, fingerprints, and whatever else your family can dish out.

Kitchen décor varies greatly from one home to another based on the needs of the individual family. With so many kitchen themes to choose from, deciding on just one can seem a bit daunting. Seasonal themes from autumn leaves to snowflakes to pale summer colors may compliment your kitchen well. Seasonal colors always look great in your kitchen whether you're baking holiday cookies or creating a masterful summer salad. Food-inspired designs are well disposed toward kitchens and cooking spaces without ever being dull. Consider matching or contrasting your kitchen décor with your dining room or an adjoining hallway to make your house flow seamlessly from one room to another. Or try something daring that makes every room pop on its own.

Winter colors can keep a kitchen feeling cool, even if you've been cooking all day long. Cooling blues and greens set a relaxing tone and a welcoming atmosphere. Or think about a wall mural that tells everyone that autumn is here – all year round. Seasonal décor can be changed with the weather, or remain constant, so it's always your favorite time of year! Prefer something rustic? Faux wood kitchen wallpapers are great for informal meals and country settings.

If patterned kitchen wallpaper on every wall seems like too much, consider painting an accent wall or paint accented by a themed border. You'll be amazed to see how many different borders and themes are available to help your kitchen look as unique as you are. From your chef-like demeanor to your love of coffee, wallpaper borders can express it all. Like our great wallpapers, these borders are protected by vinyl coating, so they resist staining while being completely cleanable. Our wallpaper borders are also easy to remove, so changing your kitchen wallpaper borders is easy. Borders look excellent at the top or bottom of your walls and along trim, cabinets, shelving, and above counter tops. There's really no limit to the places wallpaper borders can add a splash of color.

Feel like changing colors more often than you want to hang new kitchen wallpaper? Paintable wallpapers are a wonderful choice for kitchens since they allow you to repaint as often as you like. These come in a plethora of textures and styles that can be painted to match your favorite curtains, place mats, or the pattern of your good china. No matter how you choose to decorate your kitchen, insist on beauty and functionality that works with your budget. The professionals at Wallpapers To Go are standing by to help you bring your design ideas to life.
