Wallpaper: The Wisdom of the Ancients

As far back as the ancient Romans and Greeks, color was believed to have a healing impact on the human body, mind, and spirit.  We already choose colors based on our mood.  Every day, you choose what you will wear with an awareness of what you'll be doing that day, and on your mood.  Sometimes you just don't want to wear a specific shirt and can't say why.  It might just be that you're not feeling blue.  Dressing the interior of your home is no different.  Every room should be outfitted in accordance with what will take place there, and how you want it to feel.  In this, wallpaper is your friend.

Wallpaper can provide many more options for your home than paint.  It can be easier to install and remove as well.  Color therapists say that blue inspires creativity.  Sure, you can paint your office walls blue in the hopes that creativity will follow.  However, mere paint will not give you the saturation, texture, and tactile feel that wallpaper provides.  Unless you're a talented and meticulous artist, painted patterns are out of the question.  Wallpaper to the rescue!  By using wallpaper instead of paint, you can have deep silken blues next to the calming grassy walls of a thatched hut; or a fanciful arrangement of circus clowns down the hall from a pale flock of geese subtly taking flight.  The prints and patterns of designer wallpapers offer so much more to your room, and your own wellbeing, than the simple addition of color.

Make use of the color therapy that the ancients relied on.  Decide what colors you want to focus on, either by doing some research or consulting with a color therapist.  Once you know your preferred colors, you can then select a dealer who can make your plan a reality by guiding you through the plethora of available hues and fabrics, and by helping you stay within your budget.  You might be surprised at what a difference a little color can make!
