The antique document textile that inspired Shengyou Toile is rare enough to hang in a museum. The pattern was drawn by Jean-Baptiste Pillement, a court painter to Marie Antoinette, and printed in 1785 from copper plates at the Oberkampf factory in Jouy, the genre?s seminal mill. Our reproduction builds on the original?s strengths?blowing up the motif to suit the scale of modern rooms?while sparing no expense to remain faithful to its integrity. In an era of digital reproduction, ours is hand-drawn and engraved, providing unparalleled layers of depth and dimension. Figures cavort under parasols, trees tendril with scrolling leaves?every drape and shadow is rendered in exquisite detail. Printed on a natural linen-cotton, the colorways?Indigo, Iris, Charcoal, and Driftwood? bring these details beautifully to life.

Minimum Order is 2 yards.
